La visita inizia dalla hall, dedicata interamente non alle
poltrone ma alle opere d’arte. Poi, man mano che si sale (qui
non è il caso di prendere l’ascensore), si resta afascinati dalle
porte, uniche davvero, perché fanno da passe-partout alle
stanze, ognuna con un tema diverso. Ogni camera è un’opera.
Forse per questo varcandole si è pervasi da un’emozione
e viene spontaneo un grazie. Ogni artista sa di aver creato
qualcosa di unico e noi, soggiornandovi, lo renderemo
indimenticabile. Così come sarà indimenticabile il soggiorno. E
proprio per questo siamo grati a chi ha profuso il proprio estro
in questo angolo dimenticato di Adriatico..
Intervista Conte Nani
D Come ha iniziato e chi ha scelto il soggetto delle camere, lei
o l’artista?
Nel 2004 ho messo un annuncio su Arte Mondadori... Hanno
risposto in 266.
Ne ho scelti 80, che mi hanno mandato i loro progetti e tra
questi ne ho scelti 50. 13 Artisti li ho fatti scegliere dai miei amici
Critici d’Arte: Sgarbi, Bonito Oliva, Philip Daverio, Marisa Vescovo,
Armando Ginesi, ecc.
DDa dove provengono gli artisti?
Gli artisti provengono da tutte le regioni d’Italia e cinque sono
stranieri.
D Lei è di Pesaro?
Io sono di Pesaro, anche se ho vissuto molti anni fuori, anche
all’estero. (Ad es. sono stato quattro anni Ambasciatore in Bolivia).
D Come sceglie gli artisti?
Per le mostre che organizzo - due volte al mese - e che durano
quattordici giorni, ho ormai continuamente richieste da parte di
decine di artisti al mese. E io li scelgo in base alle opere che fanno,
non al nome, alla notorietà o alle raccomandazioni.
D Considera l’Alexander un hotel di lusso?
Non considero l’Alexander un albergo di lusso, ma un albergo-
museo, dove imiei ospiti vivonoedormonodentro leOpered’Arte!
D Cos’è per lei lusso?
Per me il lusso è una questione di danaro, mentre l’Arte è una
questione di buon gusto, di misura, di cultura.
D Si è ispirato ad altre strutture o progetti per l’Alexander?
Non mi sono ispirato a nessun albergo. Da sempre volevo fare
un mio museo. Ma sarebbe stato troppo costoso per me. Così ho
pensato ad un Hotel-Museo che si potessemantenere da solo.
D Sappiamo è amico di Vittorio Sgarbi, utilizza lui o altri
consulenti oppure segue il suo estro?
Io amo l’arte contemporanea da circa 50 anni (mio padre
conosceva Castelli, Burri...), quando Sgarbi aveva 8,9 anni! Però
lui mi ha suggerito due artisti - i gemelli Vaccari - che poi hanno
realizzato una camera.
DQuali progetti ha in serbo per il futuro?
Amo imparare e migliorare! Continuerò a fare acquisizioni e a
migliorare sempre più’ l’Alexander.
The tour begins in the lobby, dedicated entirely to works of
art and not to armchairs. Then, little by little as one ascends
(Here it is not a good idea to take the lifts.) one remains
fascinated by the doors, really unique because they serve as
frames for the rooms, each one with a diferent theme. Each
room is a work of art.
Perhaps for this reason, entering guests are moved and a
“thank you” comes spontaneously. Each artists knows he has
created something unique and we, on holiday there, will make
it unforgettable – just as the holiday will be unforgettable. It
is for this very reason that we are grateful to those who have
unleashed their talent in this forgotten corner of the Adriatic.

Q How did you begin and who chooses the subject for the
rooms, you or the artist?
In 2004 I put an announcement in Arte Mondadori… there
were 266 responses.
I chose 80. They sent me their projects and from these I chose
50. I had 13 of the artists chosen by my art critic friends: Sgarbi,
Bonito Oliva, Philip Daverio, MarisaVescova, Armando Ginesi, etc.
QWhere are the artists from?
The artists come from every region in Italy and fve are
foreigners.
QAre you fromPesaro?
I’m from Pesaro, however I have lived away many years, even
abroad. (e.g. I was ambassador in Bolivia for four years.)
QHowdo you choose the artists?
For the exhibitions I organise - twice a month - and which last
fourteen days I continually receive requests from tens of artists
eachmonth. And I choose thembased on theworks they do, not
because of their name, notoriety or recommendations.
QDo you consider the Alexander a luxury hotel?
I don’t consider theAlexander a luxury hotel, but rather a hotel-
museum, where guests live and sleep inside the works of art!
QWhat is luxury for you?
For me luxury is a question of money, while art is a question of
good taste, moderation, culture.
Q Did you get your inspiration for the Alexander from other
structures of projects?
I did not take inspiration from any hotel. I had always wanted
to create amuseumofmy own. But itwouldhavebeen too costly
for me. Hence the idea of a hotel-museum that could maintain
itself.
Q We know you are friends with Vittorio Sgarbi. Do you get
advice from him or other consultants or do you follow your own
inspiration?
I have loved contemporary art for about 50 years (my father
knew Castelli, Burri…) , when Sgarbi was 8, 9 years old! But he
did suggest two artists: theVaccari twins, who created one of the
rooms.
Q What projects are in the pipeline for the future?
I love to learn and improve! I will continue to make purchases
