uilt in the 60s by a Swedish architect and then the home
of the American billionaire Huntington Hartford who
brought a 13th-century cloister from an Augustinian
abbey in France to embellish the terraced gardens which
were modelled on Versailles. Seven flower-filled terraces
which are the backdrop of the main swimming pool around
which there are classical marble statues from the collection
of the bon vivant Hartford.
The 105 rooms and suites are in the original Hartford
Wing - 46 rooms and 10 suites with terraces or balconies
and ocean views - and the new Crescent Wing - 40 rooms
and 10 suites overlooking the beach – which is in colonial
style with that same Bahamian flair as the old house, which
has lost nothing of its neo-classical charm. Guests arriving
at the Ocean Club are greeted in the elegant library and
accompanied to their rooms or suites where the mahogany
furnishing and precious fabrics create a relaxing luxury
ambience.
Those staying in the three splendid villas are greeted at
the airport by the Director of Villas, and during their stay
are looked after by a butler and a housekeeper. Two of the
villas, on 4425 square feet, have three bedrooms and one,
on 4825 square feet, four bedrooms. They have infinity
pools which vie with the infinity of the ocean, tasteful
contemporary decor and large spaces which seem to dilate
beyond the palette of white sands and blue waters to the
horizon, moulding into a timeless elegance.
All the rooms, suites and villas have Wifi and, on request
iPads, iPods and DVD and CD players, and white-gloved
waiters carry flutes of champagne and the Ocean Cove
signature chocolate-dipped strawberries to guestrooms at
sundown.
The cuisine, which is Mediterranean-contemporary in the
historical Courtyard Terrace, the cosmopolitan heart of the
old villa, and with Bahamian and international specialties
at the Pool Side Terrace, reaches sophisticated heights in
Dune. This is the Caribbean feud of New York celebrity
chef Jean-Georges Vangerichten, and 150 diners can be
accommodated to delight in his culinary fantasies which
challenge even the most refined of palates.

corona i giardini a terrazza, ispirati a quelli di Versailles. Sette
livelli di terrazzamenti foriti che fanno da sfondo alla piscina
principale accanto alla quale ci sono statue di marmo della
collezione di Hartford, bon vivant e grande collezionista
d’arte.
Le 105 camere e suite sono divise tra l’originale Hartford
Wing - 46 camere e 10 suite con terrazze o balconi vista
oceano - e la nuova Crescent Wing - 40 camere e 10 suite
fronte spiaggia - che riecheggia lo stile coloniale con accenti
bahamiani della vecchia casa che ha custodito intatto negli
anni il suo fascino neo-classico. Al suo arrivo all’Ocean Club
l’ospite viene accolto nella biblioteca e accompagnato alla
sua camera o suite dove mobilio in mogano e tessuti di pregio
creano un’ambiente al tempo stesso rilassante e di gran lusso.
Gli ospiti che soggiornano nelle splendide ville ricevono il
benvenuto in aeroporto dove li attende il Director of Villas e,
durante il loro soggiorno, vengono curati da unmaggiordomo
e una governante dedicati.
Tre le ville, su oltre 400 mq; due con tre camere da letto
e una con quattro. Sono dotate di grandi piscine a sforo
che gareggiano con l’infnito dell’oceano, interni ricercati e
contemporanei, e grandi spazi aperti che si dilatano oltre la
tavolozza di sabbia bianca e acqua azzurra fno all’orizzonte,
plasmando un’eleganza senza tempo.
Tutte le camere, suite e ville sono dotati di Wif e, su
richiesta, sono disponibili iPad, iPod e lettori DVD e CD, e ogni
sera al tramonto un cameriere con guanti bianchi ofre una
fûte di champagne e sfziose fragole in camicia di cioccolato
agli ospiti nelle loro camere.
La cucina, Mediterranea-contemporanea nello storico
Courtyard Terrace, il cuore cosmopolita della villa, e con specialità
locali e internazionali nel ristorante del Pool Side Terrace,
raggiunge l’apice della sofsticazione e dell’arte culinaria in Dune.
In questo feudo caraibico del celebrity chef newyorkese Jean-
Georges Vangerichten, 150 commensali si siedono per deliziarsi
con fantasie che sfdano anche i palati più ricercati.
